There are expenses involved in creating information. Unless these expenses are met, there is no incentive for many kinds of information.
The fee of information is not about its costs. There is an industry which is calculating and trying to increase profit and return. Information is not an investment.
Why is profit bad?
If a company spends time and money to organize information in a format which is more useful to people, how can the company survive and keep doing this except through charging money?
That's not about being bad, about being focused on profit. Gaining a profit is a thing, investing for profit is another thing. There is non-profit organizations, they're gaining money and they use for costs, not for profit purpose. The question isn't how corps will survive, it is how corps exist?
Not all information has a cost involved on being created or the cost is not for the entity who is selling it, this is the case of scientific articles and data.
Putting a timer before such information becomes free provides an additional incentive to find new information
"It’s called stealing or piracy, as if sharing a wealth of knowledge were the moral equivalent of plundering a ship and murdering its crew. But sharing isn’t immoral — it’s a moral imperative. Only those blinded by greed would refuse to let a friend make a copy…"

Sharing information and thereby increasing the availability does not guarantee that useful or correct information is received by all. Information should only be free so long as people collect and spread it responsibly.
I’d like to see you spend years creating an app and then letting somebody clone it without yourself being compensated.
