They do actually have a function. From a young age, it teaches scientific notions in an involved manner that allows personal discovery. For instance, a balloon over a heating duct will float, and that's how I learned that heat rises.
Helium is very scarce on Earth and is constantly depleting. Many applications need liquid helium for cooling. Like hospitals MRI or radiation monitors. Due to some US regulation it is currently heaviliy underprized. If we'd have free market prizes, barely anyone could even afford a ballon.
but they are fun to use and play with. I was always so puzzled when I would buy a balloon and it would rise. Balloons should not be banned because they are so joyful and happy to children. THe worlds supply is much greater than that of use of the balloons.Its 2017, we shouldnt be fighing over this.
Latex balloons and Mylar take from 6 months to 6 years to break down and that is if they don't first end up in the stomachs of innocent animals such as sea turtles and whales. WE have to make a change in the environment and help the world become a better place. Also balloons are JUST decorations...
