Anmore Mayor John McEwen biggest concerns centre around the potential environmental impacts. He has environmental concerns with all the creeks and waterways, and there’s several of them. There’s a brand new hatchery now being built in that area.
Robert Simons, president of the Port Moody Heritage Society, said the property [purchased by BCG and accessed by Road] contains the only access road to the Mossom Creek Hatchery.
An extension to David Avenue, the "Road", would be needed to access 232 acres sold by Imperial Oil to real estate developer, Brilliant Circle Group (BCG).
Without the Road, traffic will increase along Ioco road which will impact nearby residents. Additionally, Port Moody Mayor, Mike Clay says: “We have a standing policy that we will not add any traffic to Ioco road”
According to the developer’s own traffic study, 70% of Anmore commuters who currently choose Ioco Road would continue to do so, even if the Bert Flinn Park road gave them an alternative.
