republicans are the party of hierarchical authoritarianism, democrats are not. it makes republicans stronger despite being (barely) a minority, and it makes democrats the only option that allows for the possibility of incremental change.

1. the republican party consistently earns my anti-vote, via the policies and principles that actually do distinguish them from the democrats. they're anti-fact, almost as a foundational principle.
